Taking inspirations from the cookbooks and food lists of Mesopotamia, Roman Empire, Late Antique Mediterranean and the Near East, and the Mediaeval world, this weblog will provide recipes and the background information for appetizers, main courses, salads, and desserts that will make your mouth water, your bellies very happy, and your mind satisfied.
We will be posting recipes for all these - sometimes drinks too - which are based on mediaeval cookbooks and food lists. As ancient and mediaeval historians, we use our expertise in languages and history of the periods we present in order to bring not only a simple recipe to you, but also a resources for social, economic, and cultural history of the regions we are talking about. We have tried cooking all the recipes presented here, and have made our poor friends taste them, and so you can rest assured that you will make a lot of friends, or lose the ones you have, after making the dishes.
